Read more about Oak Creek Canyon. Double Your Scenic Pleasure.Silver Spur is going to show it to you twice. Once going up the canyon and one descending down into the canyon with each trip boasting a uniquely different scenic perspective. The contrast of views is incredible as Oak Creek meanders through a tumble of boulders, meadows, hiking trails and lush colorful vegetation amidst Aspen Cottonwood and Sycamore trees. A special treat awaits those that take the tour during Autumn when the trees are dressed in Fall colors. The Experience.Your tour begins with VIP pickup at your hotel in Sedona or Oak Creek Canyon and a drive up the canyon to the Oak Creek Canyon Vista Point, a scenic overlook where Native American vendors display and sell handmade crafts and Indian jewelry. On some days, you might catch a Navajo flute player playing traditional songs. Then we turnaround and descend into the canyon with a stop at the West Fork Trail at Oak Creek, the most popular hiking trail in the Sedona area. There will be time for guests to take a short walk into the scenic trail at Oak Creek.
We then proceed to Slide Rock State Park which was the original settlement that began the ultimate vacation destination of Sedona. Slide Rock is a natural water chute on Oak Creek that is called "one of America's most beautiful swimming holes". Slide Rock is a popular recreation spot that features the thrill of "sliding" down Oak Creek and jumping into the creek from elevated cliffs. Next, we continue the tour to the Indian Gardens General Store where we stop for some relaxation in a shaded garden that features outstanding views of the red rock cliffs. Indian Gardens was one of the first settlements on Oak Creek in 1876 where the Apache and Yavapai Indians grew corn, beans and squash, hence the name "Indian Gardens". Garland's Indian Jewelry Store is next door to Indian Gardens that offers a phenomenal collection of concho belts, squash-blossom necklaces, bracelets and Kachina Dolls. Garland's is one of the best places in Arizona to shop for authentic Indian jewelry and crafts. We then proceed to "Grasshopper Point", nestled at the base of Oak Creek Canyon. Grasshopper Point is a cliff-side shaded swimming hole that is lush with vegetation and features incredible views. We conclude the tour with a complimentary picnic at the Encinosa Picnic Area next to Grasshopper Point. All guests and tourists are then returned to their hotel or lodging accommodations after about 3.5 hours of sightseeing in the heart of the astoundingly beautiful Oak Creek Canyon. |
